#NYNouveau - Help us share the tour through Twitter

As our tour departure date nears, and momentum builds through this week's final dress-rehearsals, we want to invite all tour participants who use Twitter to begin tagging their tour-related posts with the hashtag ...

#NYNouveau

Our most important shared experience will be the music we make together in New York.  Secondarily, we hope to create a record of our shared experiences through social media, and we invite each tour participant to be a part of building this collection of memories.

As an international hub for the arts, New York City has a long-standing tradition of perpetuating new music.  Featuring musicians from North and South High Schools in Downers Grove, Illinois, New York Nouveau combines pieces that were “new” in New York with several pieces that are “new” for New York.  Highlights include a world premiere of American composer Don Owens’ Concerto for Brass Quintet and Wind Ensemble, and a New York premiere of Scott McAllister’s clarinet concerto Black Dog, featuring Kristin Bowers, Concertmaster with the United States Air Force Band of Washington, D.C.  The program concludes with the original version of George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, as premiered in New York by the Paul Whiteman Jazz Orchestra in 1924.
